Color Dare # 76
This week's challenge is to use the color Smoothie with a neutral.
I paired it up with Cocoa to give it a little pop.
I had fun playing with this color and made a few different cards,
but this is the one that I liked best for the Color Dare Challenge.
All the supplies used are from Close To My Heart.
I found the idea for the card design on pinterest -- love that site!
- Stamps used are D1476 Card Chatter - Sympathy and C1352 You Are Beautiful (retired) and one of my favorite go-to floral stamps.
- To shade the flowers I used a waterbrush (retired) with ink from the Smoothie ink pad and the darker Smoothie alcohol marker.
- Finally I added the Glitz Stardust Gel Z1313 (soon to retire) to give the flowers a little shimmer.
This is one of the cards I will be offering at my February workshop.
1/18/14 -- Just learned that I won the Color Dare Sapphire (third runner-up) for this card, but I haven't figured out how to grab and display the badge for it on the side of my blog. Oh well, the learning continues. I'll keep trying!
I love your card, Kathy. It's amazing how much impact the breaks in the panel make! And you shading is lovely. Thanks for joining the Color Dare this week.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gretchen. I'm enjoying and trying to participate in several different challenges. Although I've been making cards for quite a while, I am just learning how to use my blog and I'm a bit challenged by that. It's a good challenge and it keeps me learning.
DeleteI've seen this technique on a full card, but I like how you use it on a smaller scale. Great idea and lovely card!
